The Major Difference Between Web2 and Web3

Welcome to the New Year. It’s been a while since I posted on this blog. In that time I got into the first cohort of Blockgames by Nestcoin and ZuriTeam.

Since the invention of the web, it has moved through several iterations and is now poised to become Web 3.0 in the future.

Web 1.0 which was from the 1980s to 2005 saw a web with static pages and no interactivity. Web 2.0 is the web we currently use which comes with dynamic content thereby enabling users to interact with content on the web. Web 3.0 is the next iteration of the web.

Web 2.0 is the social web meaning that people unite around the data they are interested in whereas in Web 3.0, data is combined to have meaning so it is semantic in nature.

Web 2.0 is the second generation of the web made up of interoperable internet services whereas Web 3.0 is made up of internet services that focuses on decentralizing processes and eliminating any middleman.

In Web 2.0, collective intelligence is used to generate information whereas in Web 3.0 applications can think for themselves. This is done using artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Web 2.0 features some usage of 3D images and graphics but Web 3.0 make extensive use of 3D images and graphics.

It is hoped that reading this article has given you some idea of the differences between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0.
